If you can afford the Paiste, there's nothing that can beat it. I'm not sure what the other poster is saying about them being cheap - it's quite the opposite. They have some the most exacting standards in their industry. I can think of NO hi-hat that sounds better than the signature series. It's the perfect mix of crispness, attack and control. One thing to beware of is their warranty "program." They basically deny every claim that comes in. If you break one, you buy a new one. Sabian and Zildjian are much more forgiving.

That having been said, I play a mix of Zildjian and Sabian on my kit... the best way is to try them out and find which one you like best.

I've had both Zildjian Customs and Paiste Signatures (but not Sabian) and think that Paiste is not a good brand. They are cheap but you get what you pay for. The Zildjians sound full while the Paistes sound kinda tinny.

Out of the two, I would go for the Paiste... But my cymbal of choice is ALWAYS zildjian... they are much more durable than the paiste with a really good sound... They may cost a bit more, but in the long run they are worth it!
