Just a normal part of having a baby, not much to do with nursing. It will run it's course. I killed my vacuum after having each of my children. They say a hair cut can help, never did for me.

You might feel like your actually going bald right now. When you are pregnant, your hormones act up in all kinds of weird ways, and even after you have your baby, hormones take a while to get back in sync and back to "normal." That's what's happening now. When you are preggo, the hormones cause your hair to grow faster and thicker, and can actually make hair grow all over your body. Now, after you have the baby and the hormones start to drop back down, you'll start to lose that hair, whether it's on your head or on your tummy for some women. I have a friend who "lost her hair" in great big handfuls every time she took a shower. It's only recently -- about a year and a half after my son was born -- that my body felt like mine again. It's one of those wonderful side effects --- you're body will never be the same -- after you have a baby.
Just make sure you're eating healthy and drinking plenty of water. Try to get sleep as best you can and stay relaxed. This is a normal part of the hormone changes. Good luck!

I doubt the breastfeeding is what's causing this. Experts say hair loss is normal for post pregnancy. I lost hair w/all 3 pregnancies. I'm still losing some now, my twins are 4months old. If it continues for much longer, or comes out in big wadds, I would talk to my doctor to rule out any underlying problems. I also have heard that this can be one of the side affects of epidurals, but not real sure about that one.

Normal... we have a 10 month old. My wife's hair got really thick and full during her pregnancy, then I was pulling HUGE clogs of hair out of the sink and tub for months after our son was born. I'd also find these amazing big hair balls under the bed.

I dont think its nursing related...i remember all the baby books saying that the normal shedding process is 'on hold' during pregnancy...so when the baby is out, the body 'catches up' - that this is normal shedding ...only now its 9 months worth of it.

Honey...your hair falling is not caused for breastfeeding...it's because of hormonal matters and happens to almost 90 % of women who have given birth. My son is already 1 year old and I still lose hair like crazy. I've told the doctor and done blood exams (for thyroid) and everything came fine...so don´t worry, you won't get bald.

Go back to taking prenatal/pregnancy vitamins, it's a result of the drop in ... well, everything, really - your hormone levels have crashed, etc. It's a natural response, but you can stave it off some with the vitamins.

unfortunatly there isnt much to do. my son is 8 yrs old now and my hair still falls out but not as much during the first few yrs of my son being born. i had gone to see the dr and he just said to continue eating healthy and take vitamins. i just make sure to get regular hair cuts and massage my head while washing. wish i can offer more advice but i'm going through what your are.
