You need to get a half way decent guitar as cheap off brand guitars generally sound like crap. You are going to constantly go out of tune and keep having to tune it rather than playing. They use cheap wood or even fake wood and bad tuning machine heads. The fret board will be rough to play and you won't be able to make quick chord changes.

Some music shops sell used guitars which are a little more expensive but you will be sure to get a guitar that has been cleaned, new strings and checked out. Guitar players love to help new people get into playing so the people at the guitar shop should be very helpful.

Yamaha has some real decent acoustic guitars for $200 or less. This deal is an awesome price ($150) for an acoustic guitar that will last you a lifetime:

Do yourself a favor and spend a couple of dollars more and get a decent guitar so you can actually play it and not have to keep tuning it. You will become frustrated at the sound of a cheap no name guitar and want to quit!

I have been playing guitar for over 30 years since I was 12 and I made mistakes by getting cheap off brand guitars and not saving a few extra dollars for a good one. Right now I own only the best Fender Stratocasters (The US made ones only) with high end noisless pickups and locking tuners. I also own a Yamaha Accoustic so I can play at parties and stuff. Although there are better acoustics such as Martins I love the sound of the Yamaha better than most any accoustic. Yamaha has a rich, sweet, clean sound that makes the songs you play sound amazing!

Actually, i bought one of those "Indiana" brand guitars off off ebay. Its made in China...LOL. But I just got it because its acoustic electric and its a great learner guitar. Partly because its very versitile...you can plug it in or go acoustic. It has surprislingly good action for a cheap guitar, and it actually stays in tune pretty good.

As a side note, I also have an Ovation Acoustic, 2 gibson electrics, a fender telecaster, and an epiphone hollow body. All great guitars, but this cheap thing isnt that bad.

I just bought an electric guitar starter kit from Music123.com for $50 plus $4.95 s/h. They're having a blowout sale right now on acoustic, electric, and bass guitars.

Sapnish guitars are the best!!
Have you searched for one?
Also, maybe an older used guitar, from a flea market or someone selling one?
