when there are minor children. I just read two cases about that where a judge ordered just that. I also found out that a co-worker, while losing the majority of custody of her kids, got an order from the court saying that her husband couldn't have members of the opposite sex that he was not related to spending the night unless they were married.

Is it just that morals are low in Western society?

Like it or not, the only way a judge is going to order this is if there is other behavior, such as open sexual acts for the child to witness and/or illicit drug use being exposed to the child.

If the parent is having sex with a romantic partner behind closed doors when he or she has parenting time, the judge probably will not say anything.

In a case where a court can decide this it has to be for other reasons than moral ones. There is no law that I know of that prohibits one person from staying overnight with another person unless there has been a case of molestation of the child and the trauma is a factor. As far as moral issues, it is true that morals have been on a downhill slide for many years, but more importantly, physical acts of sexual satisfaction have taken a more important role in many peoples mind than the emotional needs and well being of who we relate to. But we also need to realize that letting courts decide what is morally right or morally wrong isn't the answer here. It's the freedom of choice in this country that makes it a better place to live. Otherwise, Hitler would have succeeded in his plan of creating a master race in determining who would procreate with each other. The solution is in raising the next generation to learn to set aside the physical satisfaction they are seeking and look more at what's inside people rather than outside. Moral issues should be addressed and dealt with through the religious organizations and ourselves not by making legal decisions to try and control them.

So you would rather the person stay at the significant others house and leave the kids home alone?? Face it, single people sleep together and they are going to do it whether there are kids involved or not. I personally would rather know that someone is there to watch the kids and make sure they are ok then to see the kids home alone fending for themselves because some judge said their parent cannot bring a date home when the kids are there.

I am surprised that any judge ordered this. I tried to get my daughters dad to stay away from a girl who was causing more drama and presenting false accusations about my daughters dad and my fiancee. The judge told me that I couldn't keep my daughter from her father, even if he was living with her, or I would be in contempt of court. I think a parent has the right to keep their child safe, and any judge should support that decision. But to just say that they can't live with someone is dictating their lives, your not together your ex has the right to meet a woman and remarry if he chooses.

When you get a divorce, that is just THAT..kids or no kids, an ex cannot say anything unless there is a harm to the children, and if mom or dad wants a person to sleep over or live there and all is fine ,OH WELL EX!

It shouldn't be legal for the government to stick their nose into people's bedrooms. As long as the kids aren't being harmed and sex isn't occuring within their view, it's nobody's business who their divorced parent's have sex with or have as overnight guests.

Is the custodial parent going to be prohibited from dating or having opposite-sex company over at all, even during the day? They could have sex too then y'know...
