Hey guys. I'm going to the New York Rangers game tonight. Will I be looked at in a weird matter if I wear a Yankees jersey to the game? Has anyone done this before?

I'm sure if you wore a Red Sox uniform to a Rangers game, you might get some hecklers. I know here in Buffalo, people wear Bills jerseys to Sabres games, and vice versa. I don't see anything wrong with it, as long as you're rooting for the hometown teams.

I don't know how things work locally, but I've worn my Jim Brown jersey to a Cleveland Indians game a couple times and I didn't get any weird looks. I imagine New York is a little more complicated given the number of teams and how people often have two teams to pick from. As long as there isn't some local thing where Rangers fans also like the Mets or something, I don't see why it'd be a problem.

I disagree with what arcadia said. Most Ranger fans are Yankee fans and most Met fans are Islander fans since the Mets and Islanders have the biggest fan base in Long Island. You should be fine, even though I would rather wear a Ranger jersey to a Ranger game.

I don't think so. As long as you're not wearing a jersey from an opposing HOCKEY team, I don't see anything wrong with it. I used to go to about 40 Mets' games every year and I saw many people wearing Knicks, Rangers, Giants and Jets gear.

About 13 years ago, I moved from New Jersey to Virginia and you wouldn't believe how much I miss hockey! When they talk about the "4 major sports" down here, they're baseball, football, basketball, and NASCAR!

AGGHHHH!

It should be no problem at all as long as you're wearing gear for a "hometown" team. I've worn a baseball shirt to a hockey game before and no one had a problem with it. If you have the opportunity and the moolah, feel free to pay a visit to the Rangers team store and get a T-shirt, but don't feel obligated to spring for a jersey. Unless you've got a lot of dough to spread around. If you do, feel free to go wild. :-)

MSG fans are great fans of the game. I am in NYC alot and I am a SABRE fan i have never been bothered. I actually got the coolest original 6 hat from the Ranger store. I wish there were still the aud and boston gardens and the forum. MSG still has the feel of great old time hockey. i hope you enjoy the game.....

Go for it, as long as you don't show up in an Isles/Devils jersey then you're golden.

While some NYR threads/colors would be suggested, as long as you're rockin some NY love it's all good.

However, if you sported a Mets jersey you'd probably get a tongue lashing from me, but then again I'm just an a$$.

Rangers fans are all Mets fans, as a Yankee you should be foillowing the Islanders.

Seriously, it shouldnt be a problem... just be prepared to get into an argument with a Mets fan, who will of course know far more about all sports and will actually come from NY ..unlike 95% of Yankee fans. .
