Suddam seems to still have a lot of followers. About what % of the country didn't want him?
People from foriegn countries have told me that our government and the media lies to us about the situations going on overseas. That is why so many countries hate America.
It maybe a stupid question to some of you people, but I would like your opinions. If we are over there fighting for people that never really wanted our help to begain with, then we sure are spending a lot of money (and lifes) for nothing.

Some want the coalition there, some don't. As a general guide, the problem is largely down to how life was pre-invasion. Shi'ite Islam was suppressed under Hussein but they are the largest group by population (50% or so). The Kurds were also oppressed severely by Hussein, but they make up a smaller group, mostly in the North and out of the way.

The Sunnis (35% perhaps) were previously treated better (though not much better), and now they're not seeing the same power because the majority Shi'ites have more control in a one-person, one-vote society.

Of course, it's not entirely down to that. People are often against occupiers regardless of whether they're doing harm or good to them personally, it's a pride thing. And then factor in those from outside Iraq who have been trying to fill the power vacuum (most of those fighting the so-called civil war), who would naturally oppose anything which stands in their way.

Working for a charity, I meet a fair few Iraqis on both sides, some of whom are wanting to return, some never will, some hate the occupiers, some see them as liberators, it really depends who you ask, which news station you see, where you are in Iraq, etc. The only way to have percentage figures would be to independently poll the entire country, which isn't feasible.

Only the average citizens. The ones that have the most power to speak up are the ones that want to take over by force. If the US is there, they can't. They are using our own media against us.

I dont blame you for feeling this way,of course they hate us,and it goes double for us! We have no business being in a country whos people despise us being on their turf.We have a president who has a cement block for a head,he knows full well that our fighting men and women are loosing their lives for freedom, but this buffoon wants to send more soldiers over there to make up for the ones that are getting killed. This just doesnt make any sense! They don't want us there. But you have to understand that the President and Vice P. make money off this war and any war they start before they are kicked out of office.
