if an airplane is crashing.... and its over the ocean, say it doesnt break apart in the air, is it possible for the plane to hit the water and stay whole, and for the passengers in the plane to still be alive when it hits? so then say the plane is still whole and people are still alive the plane goes underwater and sinks to the bottom of the ocean and all the people in it drownd. could that happen? scientifically?

It could easily happen. Seaplanes do it routinely. As long as the pilot has maneuvering control, he coasts over the water until the plane slows almost to the stalling point. Then he eases it onto the water. If the water is calm, it could be smoother than landing on a runway. If the plane stays undamaged and the seas are not too rough, it could float for a long time. If it was in danger of sinking, the crew will evacuate people to life rafts. This is the ideal case. Obviously it could go worse.

They do do water landings, but I don't know if the plane actually crashes. When l was a kid l used to imagine making narrow and very long planes that could "crash" in the ocean without a huge shock, and so it would travel under water for like a mile....that would be so cool. It's "out" there but do-able.
I would bet anything on the fact it will be done in the future...

I would imagine it would be hard to survive the G-forces created from stopping so quickly from such a high speed. If the plane is whole it might not even sink though since it is pressurized. If nothing punctures the hull it might float.
