1. The Detroit Red Wings were the last team to repeat as Stanley Cup champions, winning back-to-back Cups in 1997 and 1998.

2. The last time a Canadian team won back-to-back Stanley Cups was in 1987 and 1988 when the Edmonton Oilers won their third and fourth Stanley Cups in five years.

3. Vincent Lecavalier definitely has the front door on the Richard race, but look out for Dany Heatley, who has like 42 goals, and Teemu Selanne, who has 41 now, as well as guys like Marian Hossa and Ilya Kovalchuk. This race should be just as interesting down the stretch as the Art Ross race, where Sidney Crosby has let everyone else back in it by having all those games where all he did was score goals in the shootout, which don't count towards season point totals, while everyone else was scoring points and decreasing the deficit from around 16 or 17 points to the current 7 points. That race will be very interesting, but I do expect Sid the Kid to win it.

The Red Wings did it in 96-97 i believe, and before them it was the Penguins (ballin!) in 91-92

I do not remember which Canadian hockey team won it back-to-back, but i do remember that besides the Rangers twice, from the 15 year span beginning in 1976 and ending in 91 with the Penguins, no american team won the stanley cup.

The only two competitors are St. Louis and Ovechkin, and of those two i think Ovechkin is more likely to catch him, because St. Louis is on Lecavaliers team, so its more likely that St Louis will get assists, but he will get his share of goals

The Red Wings were the last to win back to back cups in 97 and 98. The last Canadian team was the Oilers in 87 and 88 (also in 84 and 85). Canadian teams won the cup from 84 to 90. As for Leclavier, he may win it or his crafty sidekick St. Louis.
