Help with Windows XP Administrator?

I have a new HPdv9000 with Windows XP SP-2. My problem is when I go to install a program I get "the activation data could not be gathered properly! Make sure you have administrator privileges and full hardware access" I am the admin.listed as admin. Any help would be appreciated.

I"m going to take a stab at this, but it seems that the Activation on y our XP has not been completed properly or at all. Run the activation sequence again.
