I had Tiscali broadband for two years now with no problems at all. Now that I upgraded to vista I cannot connect to the internet with the modem I used before (Speedtouch 330). At fist the computer didn’t even recognize it and after long nights of trying and trying I finally got it to work but before I had the chance to enjoy my victory I find out it won’t connect to the net even with two solid light and everything else working fine technically speaking !!
So now I want to know if anyone had the same problem and/or found an alternative solution to the compatibility issue ? Also in a forum someone says he got it to work on a router but didn’t give much details about with model it was ! I wanna believe it’s true but I don’t want to try all existing routers to know which one it is ??
Please help if you can ! any thing will do ?

Thanks !

Hi, the biggest challenge for Vista currently is that many manufacturers have failed to produce the upgraded drivers needed to provide compatibility for their products with the new Vista OS. Why this is I am unsure, as all of these manufacturers KNEW Vista was coming out for well over two years! Fry's Electronics says that the manufacturers have just been lazy about this. Whatever the reason is, the situation exists and is causing a lot of headaches for many individuals who have already upgraded, clean installed or purchased a new system with Vista pre-installed.

I reccomend you go to the Tiscali website and go to the support section and/or the Q&A section. Often you will find drivers ready for download and once you get them installed the compatibility issue is fixed. My Dell printer does not yet have a driver for Vista, so I have to wait until Dell produces one before I will install Vista onto my system. I also have other periferals which I have had to ensure had drivers available before installing Vista. So, I am now waiting for two drivers, the one for the Dell printer and another for my Dell monitor. One issue some are not aware of is the need for new monitor drivers which provides for the updated HD needs for monitors which run Vista. The Vista Aero experiance requires monitors which are older than a year to obtain the necassary drivers and/or video cards to support Aero.

Anyway, your best bet it the manufacturers website or call their technical department. They are the experts for that particular product and can provide you the most current information you need to fix this issue.

Good luck and have a great day!

The answer to any and all Vista problem questions is simple.

Uninstall Vista, then re-install XP.

Yay, no more problems.
