It is certainly among the best, I mean the Dutch anthem is great too. But the British anthem is performed as it can't be redone; Brian May (band member of Queen) playing God Save the Queen on top of Buckingham Palace.

Definately better than our current one!! Funny how I know all the words to the Sex Pistols's God Save the Queen, yet I don't know a single word to our national anthem!!
Funny how a lot people (from other countries I presume) think you are talking about our (UK) national anthem!!

God save the queen is not a National Anthem! its a monarchist piece of propaganda!
Nothing to do with the nation, and if you've ever wondered why the scotts for one don't use it, preferring a real 'National Anthem', Flower of Scotland, just check through the verses we don't sing! Its a wonder that its not been banned by the commission for racial equality!!
A national anthem is meant to rouse the nation, so in my book one of the most stirring anthems is the French one.

It's a good one but I'll have to be patriotic and say the best one is Oh Canada. ;) I'm sure everyone feels the same about their national anthem.

I think we need a new national anthem....compared to the French and Italian national anthems ours is rubbish!

No! It's a dirge. The Russian anthem is way better. Compare the two.
