If you did manage to bleach the colour out, customs and
ex can tell by the chemical signature. when the customs

Cat litter apparently, some irish guys where doing it but caught buying 20 ton loads of cat litter, in theory the best way is to run a hidden tank, this will cover you if the traffic cops do a diesel dip, but they are not dumb, they also ask for your last diesel reciept.
technically the dot cannot do you if there are traces in your tank as its legal to use red on any vehicle not used on the road, so say your vehicle was sorn for a few months, purely used off road for agricultural, horticultural or forestry work your fine as long as your tank isnt full of red

personally i run an old 4x4 brava and could easily fiddle it but dont, i have never let red touch my tank or engine, not worth the risk of getting caught

to my knoledge red diesel cannot be made white again coz
red and white diesel are the same thing its just that red diesel has a dye in it that stains the tank but if your trying to get cheap diesel then just buy bio diesel or better still just use chip fat say 3litres of it and add a 5ers worth of diesel from the garage just dont get caught

I can tel you, if you wan to know that is. well there is the hard way by the law of physics, ie bleaching and preheating, so forget that, just have a second tank that no-one knows about, fill the dummy tank with regular Diesel and the hidden one with the red substitute. Now i know from personal experience, that many long distance drivers do this, though they wont tell you, when the usual checks are done by those Muppet's, its given the all clear. lol Edx

a simple technique devised during the last war will achive this. howeaver i belive the test for red is a muslin type cloth placed over the exhaust. according to an article in landrover ultra violet dye is also used. red does not have the necessary additives for modern on road diesels nor does chip fat oil. if vehicle registered as farm vehicle it can use any fuel & can be exempt mot. tax ect.

Red diesel in regular diesel that has had red dye added to it to indicate it is for off road (farming) use. If DOT catches you with red diesel in your tanks, you can kiss your rig bye bye and pay a very large fine.

And the old excuse we used to use..."I put some transmission fluid in it to make the truck run better." won't work anymore. They can test for that, and make YOU pay for the test.

By paying the tax and going to BP for it , hahahah good question , however i think you will be disappointed in the lack of answers. By the way its also murder to rid filters and the tank of the red dye so if you use it be scared of the Customs and Excise's for quite a while but good luck with you quest :O)

It can be made white again but it is nigh on impossible (or economic) to remove some of the trace chemicals that Customs & Excise can easily detect.

Not that I know of. Its red because this diesel isn't to be used for commercial use. If you have it in your vehicle, I would syphen it out soon.
