Wow! What do you think-Why are people so put out about the possibility of sex in space? Sure are LOTS of questions here at this forum... I just wanna know where do I sign up.

Well, now the headline got your attention.... I repeat; seems like a lot of questions here on this forum, "Are they REALLY doing that?" and etc along those lines.
People, it's 2007. Dont be so aghast. I think we should be past the suprise factor that people actually have sex every once in a while, right?

Actually I think you may be a bit late on this one. I heard rumors in the early 60's that the first woman in space, a Russian, was there specifically to try to conceive. We never heard anything official so it was either an empty rumor or a failure.
Personally my money is the failure option. The Soviets played all their space cards very close to the vest. They lost a Cosmonaut very early in their program to a fire similar to Apollo 1. Many at NASA felt that information could have saved the Apollo crew if it had been released when it happened. The US protects some information by classifying it but nothing like the old Soviet Union.

If we let astronauts start having sex, next thing you know some bitter woman astronaut will be driving halfway across the continent wearing a diaper to kidnap and mace her rival... sorry, what a ludicrous idea, just getting carried away with my imagination, I'm sure that'd never happen.

And just think of the money the government would save....one space suit for two people. I'll volunteer to test this new suit. I know it could be dangerous...but thats the risk I'm willing to take.

I think the rendezvous & docking procedures would be fun, but I have a feeling it would be a little difficulty maintaining (um... pardon the expression) a hard dock...
