Do you think snakes prefer warm water or cold water?

The warm water could help with temps but the cold water feels relaxing. What kind of water is in your snakes bowl-warm,hot,or cold?

I have found that my snakes prefer a nice warm bath when I change their water but when they are going into a shed, they lie in the cool water soaking it in for the new shed. I normally just fill it a quarter of the way up and set it in warm and let it settle to room temp.

I have a green iguana and I set his water bowl on the side of the enclosure above the under tank heater, it keeps the water a bit warmer and it provides added humidity.

My boa c.'s are from tropical climates and like it moist. I normally keep theirs warm if I can, but they knock it over all the time. We also have a ball python, Ball Pythons are from dry hot areas and they do not need the high humidity and if it is too humid they can actually get sores on their bellies. The Honduran milk snake likes to coil up in room temp water after he eats for about two days, it helps his digestion.

Well snakes are cold blooded creatures and we know they love to lay in the sun and absorb the heat. But, I want to know how you keep the water - warm or hot. It would be a nice treat to put out a warm bowl it obviously would soon turn cold and perform both functions you are looking for.

When you put out the bowls what do you see as the snakes preference? You can always use artificial lighting to warm them during the day.

Ambient temp water is preferred. You can start the water off warmer than the tank temp to ensure that it isn't chilled. Of course the snake will be drawn to the warmth of the water/bowl, but don't mistake this for preference. Many species of tropical snakes (pythons, etc) prefer water in the 74ºF and higher range.

If your habitat is heated to the optimum conditions of the snake, then the water will be as well.
