i work at a large monopoly retail corporation. I have been wanting to become a supervisor, but my supervisor said that I can't because i'm not available 24/7, 7 days a week ( I have school TWO days a week, and i'm available ALL the other days any time.) I dont think it's fair. The store manager even said he wanted me to supervise, but my supervisor "c" keeps denying me the right. Instead, she put two other girls as supervisors who don't even know my position. She's training them from scratch and I've been there for a year, they've been there much less. What's wrong with me?

No one is available 24/7/7 - your supervisor is making excuses.

That being said, I imagine the store manager is also snowing you because he can probably get his way on something like this.

So - there is something else. Perhaps these retail folk in dead end jobs are jealous of you because you are going to school and making yourself qualified for much better jobs than they'll ever have. Or perhaps you already feel much smarter and you're talking down to them? Hard to say without knowing more.

The important thing is they aren't promoting you and are not likely to. If it's just an ego thing let it go because you can't make them promote you and it's not like you're going to stay in retail forever. If you need more money you might want to start over somewhere else.

If you have already talked to you supervisor about this and didn't agree with their reasoning, finish school and look for another job. it probably isn't fair, but sometimes life isn't fair. maybe the store manager doesn't know that supervisor "c" is doing and why? talk to both of them and see if you can come to an agreement. if not, move on.

It sounds like they feel that you cannot be as dedicated as they desire. If you are not available as they need, there is nothing more to discuss.

They have told you the reason. If it is important, make an adjustment. Better plan: Finish school, move on. Quit worrying about the insignificant.

Your supervisor has her own little clique and is going to continue to hire others. Start quietly looking for another job.
