It's actually the cultural influence around them as they grow up. It's considered to be wrong for boys to show emotion, but it's expected for girls. Society penalizes boys as they grow for crying with taunts and jeers of being more like girls. As a result, men tend to have a lot of repressed emotions and feelings. They only appear stoic, in reality they've been conditioned to hold it in.

It's about hormones and long term conditioning. Men have been trained to suck it up and be tough. Crying is a sign of weakness in the male world.
As in the female world it can be a release of raw emotion. Joy, anger, hurt......

The problem is that the male wants to always see himself as the dominant spouse, the leader rather in the relationship. If someone saw him cry like you for instance, he will indeed feel like hes lost control and will no longer be seen as a man.

why do men show more anger than women?
they show the same amount of emotions, maybe men show more. It's just that everyone thinks emotion means crying. but anger is also emotion, and guys always have a lot of that to spare.

The ethics of our society has taught us that men are supposed to be strong and stoic and never show "unmanly" emotions such as crying because of the "weakness" issue.

Women are obviously more emotional. Men are taught not to cry, and tend more towards anger. They probably sublimate a lot of their grief.

I think it's just a matter of social conditioning. Since they were very small, they've been told that men don't cry. Hogwash. I think they cry but are careful to do it more privately.
