I hate my middle name it is so girly?

Hi i am a 17 year old boy and i dont know what my parents were doing when they named me. My first name is michael, but my middle name is kathleen. Kathleen is definetly a girls name. I hate it so much not a lot of people know my middle name because i wont tell them. Is this really a bad middle name or am i just over exaggerating it?

The worst people will say is that you middle name is girly. So what? You're 17 not a little kid on the playground, this does not need to bother you.

Yes as it does resemble a femine side to it but hun there are alot of names that do especialy the middle. My daughter's middle name is Lee which is techinquly is a male name. Your parents must have named you after someone in the family perhaps. I would find out why they named you that and be proud of the reason they did. If not then when you are of legal age change it.

I have a brother (note guy) whose middle name is Francis, which was our mom's foster father's first name, and most people are like Francis? Isn't that a woman's name? I guess it's probably why our "grandpa" chose to go by the nickname of "Sid" *lol*. And sadly, my middle name isn't much better. I was stuck with being named after my dad's father, so my middle name is Oliver. When I was little, I hated it because kids teased me because of the popularity of the book "Oliver Twist", but then I learned that the name was handed down in my family from Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, who was the "hero" of the Battle of Lake Erie in the War of 1812 (he is like my great-great-great-great uncle or something), and after that it wasn't nearly as "embarrassing" for me.

Don't feel too bad. My dad got saddled with the name James Ruth. Ruth was for his mother named Ruth, she died in childbirth, and my grandaddy (Jim) wanted to name him after her in some way. He hated his name, too. All his life, he went by Jimmy R. or James R. or even J.R.

Ask your parents what they were thinking when they gave you that middle name. It's unusual enough that they must have had a reason.

Well yeah it's....really girly though you have to get used to it! I mean have you thought about spanish women? After they get married they change their husband's first name as their own middle name! So if you think about it your not the only one.
- But if you REALLY despise it then you could always ask your parents or whatever to change it?

no you're right thta IS a girl's name poor you, just be glad it's not your first name, when you turn 18, you can have it legally changed if you'de like, or if people ask what your middle name is just tell them you don't have one, or just make one up! I'm so sorry, you aren't overexaggerating!

i think i know y they called you kathleen, maybe they were expecting a girl instead! i like my middle name its symone and my latin name is sonita`. anyways,sit ur parents down and ask them y ur middle name is kathleen! then tell me all about it!
