A friend told me that backyard wrestling is illegal in some states. Is this true and if so which ones?

yes it is illegal in some states. Kentucky, virginia and massachusetts to name a few.It is illegal becasue these states require a liscense to compete in wrestling and boxing events. So if they dont get there money they get all pissy and fine you out the wazzoo. It is also dangerous. No matter what those kids think they dont have the training to take those bumps. I trained to wrestle professionally and it took me close to a year to actully know what i thought I knew when i started. It is well worth getting into a school if that is what you want to do. teach you alot...and the spoils of being a real wrestler are second to none

I know no law that prohibits backyard wrestling per say. There are laws that prohibit brawling and street fighting, and there are things done in backyard wrestling that can be constituted as neglegence and assault. However, if you do it on private property with concent of the participents (you will need a waver of liablility) and it does not disturb the peace, it is leagal.
However, I must advise against such activity or at least promote the need to be safe and practical when you are doing this. No jumping of of stuff taller then your knee height. No moves that impact the head and spin (DDTs and piledrivers) No real blood on purpose (i.e. cutting yourself open on purpose). No hitting people with heavy and/or sharp objects that can crush bone or cut flesh. AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T PRETEND TO BE JOHN CENA!

It is illegal because so many people have died to backyard wrestling.Thats why they stoped the official backyard wrestling company

well yes in every state it can be illegel. They will find a way to say "oh, they got in a fight, assualt and battery", even if its done as a joke it will still happen, because jokes apparently not funny anywhere that has some power.

I don't know for sure... But If you wrestle here than you get ISS at school... Its kinda weird

depends if you's are smoking pot , music blaring and wrestling naked. then yes my friend, it is illegal.
