Zoo,

Resign immediately.

First and foremost, there is no law that says you must give notice to your current employer. You can quit on the spot if you want. It is considered "professional courtesty" to give adequate notice of resignation to your employer, but it's not legally required.

If you current boss is taking it personally, I'd just leave. She obviously does'nt understand how business works. Yes, some managers get annoyed when someone resigns and even plays guilt games, but hey, the rules are the rules. Anyone can quit a job. If she has a problem with that, she's got an attitude problem. Don't let that make you feel guilty.

Always look out for #1! And that's you babe!

You know what I think? I say if you have a good offer, go with it and tell your boss to get lost. I don't think anybody has to give a 1 month notice, a 2 week notice is plenty.
If I would get a good offer that looked like it would work out for me, I'd be out there in no time.
In the past loyalty was a big deal. I was a loyal employee. Always there for them. Maybe not the most motivated, but I tried. And then I got shafted several times thanks to company mergers and crap like that and I think I'm done trusting any company anymore. If they think it's fair for them to make me compete with people in india who offer to do my job for a 10th of what I can afford to do it for, then it's also fair for me to take care of my family and go with whatever opportunities I find that help me.

Whatever you do, don't lose the offer while you're trying to appease your boss, because then you'll be stuck with a crappy boss, and no other choices.

2 weeks is ample notice...you may as well go now, your situation with your boss won't be improving.
