Well.... first think it up that what u r going to print with it.
I think u will do some home printings like letters, photos, greetings etc.For that U can go for an inkjet.
If u want to do professional text printings in b/w such as dtp works or so then only go for the laser one.

Now, HP is considered as the best of printers. But don't go for it. I have got 2 hp inkjets, 1 hp lasers, 1 hp scanner, 1 mfd of lexmark, 1 eption printer and etc. The main problem u will be facing with every printer while printing is the HIGH PRICE of INK.

No use spending a lots of Money on Costly Printers like those computer manufacture says or advertises, instead buy a printer of EPTION that u will get in @ around 2000 rupees in india. For EPTION printers u will find cheap price ink cartridge for u to run it smoothly while printing both photograph and texts. But mark 1 thing here, see to it that the printer u r buying contains 4 DIFFERENT ink cartridge for CYMK in it. Or else u will find urself in trouble after u print something in lots with a particular colour.... (u will have to throw away that cartridge just because that particular colour run out.)

Again, Don't buy something like two-in-one. Buy a seperate scanner. Printer & Scanner in one... is a headache.. somethime the printer gets into trouble, while sometime the scanner, but windows feel it as one.

Don't go again for the DPI advertisement as those vendors says. It's only 150dpi for Screen and 300 dpi for general printing (high resolutions photoworks doesn't require more then 600 dpi.) All those r bogus numbers, in practical life for the general users.

By the time those costly printers start getting noisey.... with the amount u spended on buying ink for them... u can buy 20-30 EPTION new printers with that amount ... lol
Nothing stays forever even for 1 year in the computer related market. No use spending a huge sum for those things... use only the "USE and THROW" motto... then only u will be the gainer.

there're 2 main problems with hp pscs (printer-scanner-copiers)
1) the cartridges cost a bomb... when a psc costs Rs. 4k including the cartridges and cartridges alone cost Rs. 2.5 k one tends to wonder what on earth the underlying logic is... one could definitely go in for spurious ink but then it's a major risk - i say this from experience
2) hp has stopped distributing spare parts for its psc's... i had an hp 1210 psc and the paper sensor thing wouldnt work so i lugged it over to an hp service center who told me that hp has stopped selling spares, the only option is a buyback... i checked with hp service centers in different cities, same answer...
epson is definitely better wrt cost but hp rules in quality

Congratulations for settling down on which brand your choosing. HP is the best printer you can get. Visit this link if you like its a guide to what type of printer you should settle down. And once you;ve decided whether Inkjet or laserjet, click on the second link go to hp website, choose from a range of inkjet or laserjet printers (select your region so you get country specific models) .... Happy Buying... :)

Look for individual ink cartridges.

Also, permanent archival ink if you will be printing photos.
