right now i own a Dell Inspiron 6000. its running on Intel Pentium M processor 1.60GHz, 798 MHz, 512MB of RAM.

is there anything i can do to make my computer run quieter? i like to record my own music using my computer but my mic always pics up the sound of the hard drive running. it just gets annoying and i wanted to know if there was anything i can do or buy to make my computer quieter so its not so loud when its on

You could try buying another hard drive, some are quieter than others. Just make sure you look at the decibel rating of the drives and compare.

It isnt the physical sound from the hard drives getting into your microphone, it is electrical interference due to the sub-par built in sound card/ship in your laptop.

I would suggest getting a USB or PC-Card sound card that has higher-end electronics in it that will be less prone to electrical interference.

get a case for it, or hook up your computer so another part of the room and extend your wires.
Think about it and use common sence. Dont go waist money on harddrives and hardware that will make your pc run quiet.

Try using a program that does not run your drive up.
