You will improve performance.

Your gaming experience will run faster, smoother, and if you experienced a lot of lag and freezing, then it should reduce that as well.

Memory is temporary...it is only used when your computer is turned on. The more memory you have, the faster your computer will process data and run your programs. Hence, if you try to open multiple programs at the same time, your computer will not crash. Your graphics card will also use some of your memory card to run your game, so the more memory you have, your graphics card will perform to its maximum potential and it will help with your game performance.

For a gamer, more memory is best.

Sean is pretty much bang on with his answer but did not mention one important point. It has to be the correct type for your computer. Your best bet is to log on to the Crucial site,
http://www.crucial.com/uk they will check your computer on line and tell you which memory you need and the optimum amount. They are not the cheapest but with RAM it's better to spend a little more. It's top quality and they guarantee it will be compatible with your computer. Thay also give an excellent warranty. Hope this helps.

Just add 1 more GIG for a total of 2GB. 3GB will be overkill.
