I am trying ot help my friend move her stuff form Chicago to New York. My friend is not in the country right now. SO i found a few nos from Google list and called a few and found one with good rates but this guy doesn't have a office front, he operates form his residential building...he has license # and USDOT # how do i check his credentials...
It is not my stuff and my friend is not in the country. any suggestion?

Get references. And not just 2 or 3. Get a list of them and call at least 5 or 6. Check the BBB too. But other people that have used his services will speak volumes. And if he has no list, he has no job for you! Move on to the next mover.

Go to google and get the web address for the Better Business Bureau. Once you have it go there and put in his business name, his name and address and whatever else you may about him and see what they have. That is about the only way to actually get a credible answer about his business practices
