At last a question in the P&S category that requires some thought.... and I hear you! But remember, some parents are still just big kids themselves and have not hit the maturity button yet, so a tricked out car is important to them. Also , the car doesn't have to be disciplined, and it never needs a parent teacher conference. Unfortunately, there are people who transfer love to inanimate objects like a car.

well as for ME personally,
all I need is for my car to get me from here to there and for the radio to work (don't even need a CD player.... much less MP-3)

as for my kids, I have no 'expectations' of them. I just love them, provide for them, and hope they will make good choices in their lives.

I spend much more on child care / extra-curricular activities for my kids than I do on my Dodge Neon car payments, FYI.

but thanks for asking.

I drive a crappy car. Broken windsheild, broken a/c. I have 3 adult children who are happy, healthy, successful, and independent.

Cars stay out of trouble when you turn them off.
Cars do whatever they are told.
