I think it boils down to the conference championships. Because their record wasn't that great they pretty much had to win ACC championship in order to be put in the tournament. I do think however despite not beating UNC for the ACC title they should have been given a bid, along with Syracuse and West Virginia.

they didnt show up during the regular season. if they would have beat unc they would have gotten the automatic bid, but their record wasnt very good and they didnt have enough big wins. they had a good run in the tourny though and i was rooting for them

overall record wasn't that great.. and there was more deserving teams but a lot good teams were left out (syracuse, k-state, air force)
