When my hubby & I take showers the tub gets clogged & the water stops going down the drain. At the same time the toilet starts to bubble. The toilets starts bubbling also when we turn on the sink faucet.

He's tried running the 20 ft. rotating wire ( i dont know whats its called sorry) down the bath tub drain, the toilet & the sink but it hasnt worked. He's also tried to run it down the tubes sticking out from the roof to see if that may be plugged but that didnt help either.

Any other ideas what it could be? Any info is helpful. We're trying to see if we can figure it out before calling a plumber. We're running low on funds bc it is a rental unit & we need to get it in tip top shape for the new tenants.

Thanks!

the drain is clogged. Unfortunately, if He has snaked the drain with a 20' snake, it may be time to call in a professional. The other option would be to rent a k-50 (a bigger snake) and snake a longer run. He can either access the drain from the roof, or pull the toilet out and snake it from there.
With a bigger snake, you get more power, longer length, but its also a little trickier to run.

It sounds like your husband didn't reach what is causing the stoppage. He can rent a small sewer cleaner for $50 or less. Call around and check prices. Most of the bigger hardware stores have a rental department. Use the gloves when handling the cable, and make sure the drum is spinning clockwise to push in and counter-clockwise to pull out. If he notices it getting harder to push, let the cable spin there for a minute and continue to push. He might want to check and see if there is an exterior clean out. If he finds one, and he takes the cover off, look down inside and look for standing water. If this is the case, then the stoppage is further downstream, and this is where to start with the snake. If the pipe is empty at this point, he will need to use the snake through the drain, taking care, because there is a p-trap below the floor, and these have a 180 degree turn, then another 90 degree turn, and it makes it difficult to get a snake into. Good luck!
