How popular is the James Bond theme?

I was humming it and whistling it when i went to go rent the new movie today, and two of my co-workers had no idea what it was. And it wasn't like i made it sound nothing like it or anything.....*and these two ladies are older....40's-50's*

*when i gave them the movie, they gave me wierd looks...like 'youre going to watch that?"

i said " i love james bond"....and they said "i have never seen a movie"

I also have that theme going in my head a lot. As far as how other people here it, I know that in my head thing sound different than they do emitting from my mouth, sort of like singing. So perhaps it just didn't sound like the real thing to them.

But yeah, I think it's pretty popular. I thought about getting that on my phone.

It's going to be more popular with the guys, than the ladies, because James Bond movies are not 'chick-flicks'.

It never was released as a "single", so it never made the pop charts (at least not to my knowledge, or my musician-friend's knowledge).

I have a recording of it, but it was hard to come by.

I'd say -- not too popular. It's definitely recognizable even so far as calling it a 'brand name' song, but not too popular.

hmm just about anyone would reconize that song. Maybe they was just not paying attention? or you was off? lol
But I have never seen any of the bond movies and yet I know the theme.... weird? maybe...

that's not reall strange if u r in america
americans seem to be more oblivious of things not really american. that would definitely not happen in europe, africa or asia. every1 in those places knows of james bond even if they might not have seen any of the films.

very Popular! My son is 14yrs old and he plays that them on his guitar, keyboard! James .............. James Bond! Lol
