you can go to homedepot.com and find out. They will also give you a monthly email newsletter about your zone and things you can do there.

Don't think the zip code thing will work for Canada.

I'm not sure, but one of the ladies on one of my gardening forums recommends www.arborday.com for figuring that out: Apparently they have a calculator that you can just enter your zip code in and it will tell you.
