Could it make you gay/bi or "strengthen" those feelings?

(NOT bashing same-sex schools, just curious since I attend one)

Not at all. Otherwise, all-boy schools would graduate all homosexual boys, and all-girl schools would be completely lesbian. But that definitely isn't the case; in fact, I tend to notice that kids in same-gender schools are much more intensely curious abou the opposite sex, because they're sort of kept away from it and really want to go out and flirt and interact when they can.

Basically, there's nothing that can change a person's orientation like that. I do think, especially in the years when kids are right below the cusp of pubesence, being in a same-gender school, particularly one where the kids live at the school as well, oftentimes bonds and attachments develop that aren't exactly sexual, but definitely border on romantic in their adoration. But then again, the same thing happens a lot to kids in perfectly mixed gender environments, so I think it's just something all youth sort of have to navigate through- most of us have something like a same-sex "crush" at some point that has no bearing on our sexual orientations.

Hope that helps.

well well well.....this pretty much sums up my college experience. i was out prior to college, and in fact decided to attend an all female college because i knew there were quite a few lesbians there and i felt comfortable with that. I wanted to be able to express myself, and since i had just happened to not have a lot of guy friends in high school i was more comfortable with women anyway...

but anyway....a few of my friends that i began freshman year with who claimed to be straight ended up dating women by the end of our senior year. i certainly do not think that attending a same - sex school makes or breaks your sexual orientation by any stretch, but i do think it makes for a more comfortable environment for experimenting.

because my friends became so comfortable with being around me and my girlfriends it's almost as if they accepted being gay or experimenting as a possibility (which they did). i dont necessarily think that a co-ed school leaves much room for experimenting. it's either gay or straight.

these girls felt comfortable enough to branch out in an all female env. where many were lesbians, and although one of them to this day is still dating women, one is very happy in a straight relationship with a man.

No.
Sexual orientation is inborn, whether that is LGBT or straight. This cannot change based on the school you attend.

Attending a same-gender school may, however, give you additional opportunities to experiment and understand what your true, natural, inborn sexual orientation is. So can attending a school with both genders. :o)

Good luck!

No. Quit beating around the bush already! If you think you are gay or bi don't try to find something/someone to blame it on. Just be happy and accept yourself. Lead by example and others will follow.

No it won't make you gay. Probably a bunch of horny teenage girls who don't know many guys would be more likely to experiment. But in the long term you either like girls or you don't. Even girls who fool around when they are teenagers aren't gonna date women as an adult if they are actually straight.

it cannot change who you are at your core, but it could influence your temporary decision to have sex with others of your own gender until you are mainstreamed back into society.
Prison is a perfect example of this, as is the military

Haha, there's an all-girl school down the road from me, and the reason that many of them go there is because it's all girls--and they are lesbians. I'm not kidding when I say that 40% of them are self-pronounced lesbians. It's a fact. I think it's funny.

I think so because there is a larger percentage of deaf people who are gay/bi/lesbian and a lot of deaf people, while they didnt necesarily go to same-sex schools they stayed in dorms with all one gender. I'm deaf but I'm not lesbian and went to a mainstream school so I dont have this experience firsthand but have heard it was true by other deaf people and my parents.

No. I knew I was gay and normal prior to even going to high school.
