How to add timing to a powerpoint?

Plus, what should I do to make my powerpoint really impressive? The assignment was to do a biography of myself in powerpoint, 8-10 slides. I know how to do a powerpoint, basicly, but do you have any ideas to add to really make it stand out?

Go to the "SlideShow" menu and "Customize" the transitions and sounds, but be careful you can go overboard here and lose your audience. the whole presentation should look like it is a total package, use a theme or template.
