The conditions at Walter Reid are an indication of how vets were treated at Walter Reid.

What needs to be done? Better monitoring of sanitary conditions, and better attention to the care and treatment of soldier, vets and hospital patients.

And possibly a different allocation of funds. Spend a few billion less on overseas deployment, and a few billion more on actually supporting the health and wellbeing of the troops.

Not sure about the "bad Rap" but this hospital is no different than any others that I have been in. They are always things that are wrong or need improvement or need updating in hospitals and this one is no different. It's not even close to a "tragedy" as yo call it, but it is a band wagon that the left can jump on and exploit it for their own good! How to fix it? You stop spending $480 Billion a year in foreign aide and pay our military a descent wage and better benefits, and fix what is wrong with the hospitals. They need it as all the democrats that have been in power over the years have cut their budget! I know they would like you to think that it is all Bushes fault! The hospitals really aren't that bad...been there, done that....

This degrading treatment of veterans has been going on for at least 50 years. I know. My dad is a vet who retired at age 37.

All retirees know the unsanitary conditions, the dehumanizing treatment, sub-standard medical care offered by indifferent medical school drop-outs, lack of supplies, discontinuity of care, and so on. The VA was a joke, is a joke, will always be a joke. They're a hoax perpetrated on recruits (we'll take care of you") and the public alike.

My opinion is that it is a few isolated situations, or areas, and that the press is blowing it out of proportion to 'show' how 'evil' this administration is.

Although I am disgusted (as everyone else is) by seeing the filth, I have a hard time believing that the entire hospital is run like that.

There are two possible agendas going on here and non of which has anything to do with our wounded soldiers.
1. Liberal agenda to find anything they can find to whine about in this administration or #2 This was brought forward to put it in peoples face what is in their future with a government run medical program. I think its a little of both.

No, there funding was cut in 2004 by the Bush administration and I sent phone cards to WR back then because they would not let troops call home much if they had no money. They are picking fall guys just like with Katrina

bush has ONLY cut benefits to veterans since hi-hacking the government.
the hospital situation is only the start of the kind of hell that vets are about to endure, thanks to George W Bush.
