I find myself asking this question more & more. What has happend to society? What happened to respecting each other & our differences?

Just the other night I was watching the news and there was a story of a girl who was in a fight at school, and got tazered by a policeman because she tried to attack him for breaking up the fight.... *sigh*

What has happened? Why are the police in schools? Why are people stealing babies from hospitals?

Have people lost their minds? Is it the chemicals in processed foods? Is it a lack of parenting?

What's going on???

Not that it is relevant, but I am older than 25, and I have seen plenty to be disgusted with what's going on around me in the world, and to be fearful for my children growing up in such a disturbing world.

Media.

See, the problem is that violence hasn't spiked in the past decade. Believe it or not, it's actually at a steady decline. Because of our advances in technology, we are able to see things that we've never seen before.

The news also feeds on drama. They want America's attention so they supply us with the stories we want to hear. In effect, this gives viewers a false sense of fear.

I do agree with you. This society seems to be more and more chaotic. People feel the need to one-up the last person.

We've turned into a God-less society. There is still good in the world, but like he said, that doesn't make the news. My hubby is a coach and just the other night I was at a game where a parent with his daughter we're not only yelling incredibly rude things to our players, but turned to our fans and yelling obsencities to them as well. When I got up away from where there were sitting they began to yell racial remarks to me (I am Hispanic). What kind of world ARE we living in when you can't go to a high school soccer game without being insulted and verbally attacked? What is worse is that this is how he is raising his teenage daughter. It's a shame.

With the introduction of radio, television, and movies over a period of time, it appears there are those who find it difficult to separate make-believe behavior to socially, and often morally, correct actions.

If movies and television shows were to cease altogether any violent acts, I would bet that over a period of time, generations perhaps, that the subtle influence of these media's over people lives would change. However, this is just part of the problem.

Other issues include parenting skills, educational influences, community interaction, and of course the well-being and physical components that makes up a total person.

That's why it's in the news. There are always something bad happening in this world. It's just the way of life in our society. You rarely hear good news on news at eleven. Most of the time the media report something bad. The good samaritan story might get broadcasted once a month maybe, but that's about it. Good and bad things happen everyday, but most of the time we hear the bad ones ;)

It is simply a society gone mad in my view, we have become a society that has lost it's ability to respect one another, we have lost our moral obligation to society, and have simply taken leave of the senses.
