Deep down in my heart, I know that other people's opinions should not matter because it's my life, not theirs. And my husband also always tells me to take others' comments in through one ear and out the other, but for some reason, I find it kind of hard. How do I change that about myself?

Well you need to work on your self confidence. Once your convinced that you are a good person and you start to believe in yourself, then no one elses opinion will matter.

This can be a catch 22 depending on your beliefs and what exactly is happening. Everyone has an inner self that knows right from wrong. For example: If someone was telling you that your wrong beause you think petty theft is a crime, then you should follow your good instincts because it is. However, today, you cannot tell what people are thinking. You may think petty theft is fine, and someone else is telling you its not. In my opinion you'd be wrong and they'd be right. So this is an impossible question to answer without more specifics.
