I live in MI and wanted to know what will happen to my wood after it has been cut if it is left outdoors through the winter and into spring. Will it be okay? If not, what can I do to better preserve the wood?

It'll rot. Get it off of the ground and put a tarp over it.

If left outside to deal with the elements, the wood will rot. To prevent this from happening, pile it up under a protected area, such as a carport or even under a tarp. Keeping it relatively dry will ensure that you will have good timber in the spring or whenever you need it.

It'll be OK as long as it doesn't get saturated. Get some treated landscaping timbers and stack the wood on them. As long as it's not on the saturated ground, it'll do just fine. You can also cover it with a plastic drop cloth.
