My 16 year old daughter is urinating every 15 minutes. I took her to the doctor yesterday and her urine tests came back negative.
What else can be wrong? She cannot afford to miss any school, (they won't let her disrupt class because of having to use the bathroom often)

Thats what the urine tests are for, the UTI's and bladder infection. Shows nothing.

You should get her tested for Diabetes. One of the symptoms of Type 2 Diabetes is urinating a lot. Diabetes 1 & 2 runs in my family so I know the symptoms. Just get her tested for this and see what her results say. You should also go online to Web Md
and look up the symptoms she's having. You'll be surprised by the help you get from there.

Alright tests came back fine this is GOOD they always check white cells, any blood in urine any nasty std's(which prob doesn't apply in this case) and kidney health so it's nothing too nasty. Urinary tract infections are extremely common in women, because the urethra is close to the anus where a lot of bugs live so always wipe from front to back, so many different types of bacteria can get in there and can't be detected through analysis but don't mean they aren't present, (not sugesting daughter is unhygenic), women get these infections all the time, most of the time the cause is unknown. Should have sugar test and thyroid test, for diabeties or thyroid problems both treatable with medications, The other thing is simply an overactive bladder disorder, sometimes it's a bit of anxiety maybe hormones, just a weaker bladder that will catch up to the rest of her body in due time.(meaning it might not be able hold much fluid untilit grows a bit bigger) So could be, and most likely is as simple as that. One more thing does she wet the bed ?

sometimes or often, this still can be related to unstable bladder/ overactive bladder where the bladder contracts 'without permission' but never ever get angry at her for wetting the bed or if thats not the case, don't make her think it's her fault in anyway( for the frequency) or show any frustration, she could be having a problem at school, maybe bullying or general teenage worries, general anxiety. Make her only drink water and cranberry juice and let her stay at home until she's comfortable again, you don't want her to have an accident at school cause some mean teacher didn't let her go to the bathroom, Maybe go down to the school and ask for some work she can do at home for now, don't have to tell them every detail just say she's unwell. Or if not sign up and do some home schooling for 6 months, that's still beneficial learning. I knw how horrible it is having to go to the toilet every 15 minutes, sometimes i went every 5 miutes all from some unidentified bacteria, they still don't really know what caused it but i've always had an overactive bladder anyway from about 13 onwards now i'm 23 and still have to wee atleast once an hour, it was alright while i was working on a building site cause i could have a wee behind a corner, but now i'm doing pharmacuetical studies and have to excuse myself from the class room 6 or 7 times in the day.how embarrassing. I've even wet the bed a few times cause of unstable bladder. Anyway If anything was seriously wrong with her it would have showed up in the urine tests so tell her not to panic and she'll be alright. Be as nice as you can she needs support not any criticism. Hope that was helpfull, you can email me if you like address is : dream9er1@yahoo.com you might just want to chat or maybe ask something else, i'm no doctor but iv'e had to deal with similar for a long time now. all the best guys. lay off soda, caffiene for a while, cranberry juice really is beneficial.
