I'm really excited now that the summer's come 'round, and I need help with finding fun things to do.
I live in a desert-like place, and I don't have a car yet.
What are some free or nearly priceless things I can do to keep me busy?

Volunteering your time to a local non-profit that is involved in things you believe in or enjoy will give you a sense of purpose and enjoyment. If you enjoy swimming, perhaps you could join a ymca or volunteer to work at one in exchange for reduced or free membership. If you are into nature or ecology, you could volunteer with a ranger service through the state you live in. Look for opportunities in your neighborhood to help some of the people around you, whether it be to help with babysitting, chores for the elderly or doing a reading hour for children at a local library. It all depends on your interests.

I once volunteered in Colorado's 4 Corners' area on a archaeological dig for Anasazi artifacts. It was fun & interesting.

Start digging. If you find precious gems, open up a road-side stand to start your business.
When you start making a liitle cash, pack up and move the hell out of the desert.

its what ever you like to do. what are your personal hobbies and intersts? do the ususal, go to the movies, camping,swimming,hiking,hang out at the park, picincs, just hang with friends, etc.
