Other influences are the times we live in.Their have been comics about War, Westerns, Horror and Sci-Fi, Romance what ever what is on the radio shows or was hot in Hollywood someone would make a comic of. Check out this site it great its a list of comic book Internet resources

Comics were influenced by real life activities. Whatever has happened or is happening is what is involved (Construction in New Your on the Statue of Liberty was written about, as was the 1976 activities for the 200th b-day of the US).

They even had Government heros going to Iraq after the first Bush's term in office

what do you mean but what influenced comics because that could either be a character or hero that started the whole trend or it could mean the authors of the comics who wrote them and designed the characters/ heroes.

I would have to go with the head person himself. Stan "The man" Lee. As for a character well everyone loves Batman(DC) and Superman(DC) don't they - maybe Spiderman(Marvel) as well
