I think the Yankees can win the World Series.

I think that they are at best a wild card team. However, I don't see them going to the big dance. If they do, I'd be surprised. I think that the AL Champs will come from the Central again this year. There are too many strong teams in that division again this year.

Whether or not the Yanks win the Series this year, I think that this is Torre's last season. He almost left last season. I'm not so sure that he could make it through another one with his health issues.

the yankees can win the world series, they need to keep HEALTHY though. If their bullpen can come up in big situations, that will be great. And if they use Mo less that will be good to, so he does not get over worked. This is not torres last season, he will not get fired like shottinhimer from the chargers

I don't see the Yankees winning the series this year, or even making the playoffs, for that matter. Reasons are listed below...

1. Starting pitching is mediocre at best. Mussina is good, but not great anymore, and is getting old. Pettite is injury prone, old, and not what he used to be when he was previously on the Yankees before they basically ditched him. Pavano? Please...he'll be on the DL before May. That Janpanese pitcher wasn't even a star in Japan, so what makes fans think he'll succeed here is beyond me.

2. Line up is old and gray. Abreu is already hurt, Giambi is hooked on the HGH, Posada is practically in a nursing home, A-Fraud can't get a clutch hit if his life depended on it, Cano peaked too early, Matsui hasn't gotten a clutch hit in years, Jeter has failed as a Yankee captain, never winning anything with this title, and doesn't stick up for other players.

3. Bullpen contiues to be a disgrace. I'll give it to Rivera, but Farnesworth? Are you kidding me?

I think they'll be the worse team in the playoffs, cause I think the Red Sox don't have there heads on straight, Tampa Bay is well Tampa Bay, and the only team they beat is the Yankees, and whoever else is in that division, I doubt will do that good either...I predict a switch, last years power division was the NL EAST, and the weak division was the NL WEST, I think with all the acquisitions the teams in the west, from sammy sosa, mike piazza, gary matthews jr. and a brand new pitching staff on the mariners, not to mention Jose Guillen and Jose Vidro who add some power to there lineup... All the teams are evening out I seriously think both divisions will go down to the wire and the wild card will be coming out of the west, and the yankees will basically shove it to the Red Sox in the last Rivalry series of the season securing the #1 spot in the division... NOTE IM A RED SOX FAN... I pretty much hate the Yankees, but I expect AROD to not suck as bad, Chink Mang-Wang or whatever still has another year or two until the majors figure out his stuff, and he becomes the next hideo nomo and chan ho park...dominant when nobody knew him, but once people faced him enough hes gonna get smashed, I bet andy pettite is gonna have a sweet *** year, mike mussina will do his normal work, and although it would be sweet if the rocket went to boston or toronto just for kicks, instead of getting in the huge mess of the Yankees, I think eventually he'll get a red carpet rolled out for him when the #4 or #5 starter for the Yanks gets hurt and pettite talks clemens into playing, and Steinbrener gives him an offer that sets a new standard for MLB, tons of quirks that has to do with not having to travel with the team, maybe trading for Rogers son, or something crazy, that makes it basically a one day a week job where clemens shows up at the field pitches, goes to wherever his son is playing and works out on his own... Now as for Joe Torre I do think this is his last year...And I wouldn't be suprised if the Yankees hire Joe Girardi to coach a minor league team, or help coach the Yanks, cause he seems to know what he's doing, and is hella good with rookies, prospects, and teaching the value of working hard to earning ur money...so I expect if the yankees get elimated in the first round of the playoffs or dont make the playoffs joe torre is out, joe girardi in, AROD, abreau, pettite, maybe mussina, are all out for young prospects that girardi can build into true yankees, that play with that special PIZZAZZ... and trust me if steinbrenner has the balls to do that, the yankees will be unstoppable by 2010, and when they finally get the young guys developed and winning games, he'll through out some big bucks to bring in some good guys, to add depth to a championship bound team, no one will be able to stop them, then once the guys he picks up during that veteran signing/trading frenzy get old enough where they are wearing down, he'll take his millions of dollars, and bounce out of baseball... I mean you gotta smell it coming Yankee Stadium is one of the oldest most notable stadiums in baseball besides wrigley, shea, and RFK, and fenway...when they move to a new stadium, they're gonna go for a new look, THE ROOKIE/PROSPECT thing is what I'm talking about, and who knows maybe even let a player or two grow a beard, lol....

One should never count the Yankees out. They will find a way to win it all this year. After that, Joe Torre will probably hang it up.

The Yankee's are amazing. Its like watching an All Star Team play every day. The lineup they have is sick. Pitching hopefully will be better this yr. But they sure can outscore you.

Matsui will stay healthy and Giambi will go off this year. Watch out, these yankee's are going to break some records on offense.

They might make the playoffs if their piss poor pitching holds up, but they will not win the World Series. This is Torre's last year for sure, he is sick of the B.S. he gets from George.

unless the yanks finish third in the division Torre will bethere till he decides otherwise. Who else could manage that ego filled, steroid accusation , on again off again relationships, getting thru multi million dollar players injury, having multi milliondollar players fail and the team still succeed ..who can handle that beside torre. AND I HATE THE YANKS and they will win division but health determines if they wil win the whole shabang!

You must not be a Yankees fan to ask that question. Yanks will do great this year. As for as Torre, I think he will be back for one more year.
