Key detail:

PS2 is a very old system with an old processor...

Most of even the most BASIC games now require more than the PS2 could provide in terms of graphics, processing power, etc. Even though it was a dedicated system it would have a hard time pushing the bare-minimum graphics settings for more recent games.

If you're wanting a system similar to the PS2 (regardless of sanity) then I'd suggest about a 1.8ghz system with a 128mb video card.. and considering you were probably playing it on an older TV screen.. consider using a 14inch POS low-res monitor also :)

Or go buy a half-way decent system (even a 2.4ghz dual core AMD with a 7800 gs 256mb video card and 2gb of RAM would be fine) and you're in stiff competition with the Xbox360 without the annoyances it provides.

Choice is yours.

PS1 is said to be 32-bit but then nintendo surpassed it and made their gamecube 64-bit... but then again sony prduced the PS2 now having 128-bits of graphical power...
for a PC to have the same output as that of the PS2 one must have a video card with 128mb or higher capabilities with matching RAMs of 512mb or higher values... Video cards alone won't give you the PS2 output.. you'll need the help of RAMs too..

it is up to you on which brand you choose when choosing your video card but make sure that it is 128mb and above...
same with RAMs, regardless of what brand make sure that they are 512mb and above...
