When you use copy, it copies exactly whats on the cd, it doesnt convert the format to a lesser quality, but if you burn to fast, you will have issues playing the cd.....
To get the best quality, try to burn at a slower rate, I use 4x for the best possible quality.....A basic rule of thumb, the slower you burn, the better the quality will be.....

InstatCopy ( a Pinnacle product ), You can copy ( using 1 or 2 Burners), Cd's and DVDs.

This 'Product' did come in Nero 5, It is also available at:
http://www.mrbass.org/instantcopy/
You can not 'Improve' the 'Quality', You can get a Exact Copy of the Original.

As Vincent mentioned, use the slowest speed possible. Also keep in mind that the CD player you are using for playback may not be made to playback recordable CDs. Try the copy in another CD player that specifically says CD-R compatible.

Also, older CD recorders can record as slow as 1x which gives you the best chance to get a copy that may work well in any CD player.
