It's not often that one needs to use pi in one's daily life, unless one is practising engineering or maths.

While you could use it to work out the area covered by a sprinkler, what use would that be? Perhaps if you were going to buy turf or seed for a circular area which was going to be watered by a sprinkler that you could not move.

Other examples:

You have a circular thing, such as a water tank that you want to paint: you need pi to work out the area so you know how much paint to buy.

You want to make a pie to fit a dish of a certain diameter. You need to work out the area of pastry and hence the volume or weight so you know how much ingredients to use.

Although pi is also used to calculate circumference from radius and vice versa, in normal life it is usually easy to measure directly.
