My friend of 4 years who owns a bunch of horses and claims he used to train horses made me an offer a few weeks ago. He said that he knew someone with a Thoroughbred Cross In Foal for $350. I told him I would trade him some things for that horse. I saw pictures and everything. So I did the trade. When I talked to him days after he got the horse, he told me that my horse was a horse that he had had for a long time, in other words he changed his story and kept the horse that he first offered me. I ended up with a mare that I didn't even want, he gave me a skinny, old, lame looking mare. I never brought this to his attention because i know he will try to turn things around. So basically, I just want to sell the Mare he let me have and be done with it, but I am very upset..What should I do?

You were taken, con-ed, and bamboozled. You never ever ever buy a living creature untill you see the animal first. You never trade or trust a person untill the animal is seen and examined. Nothing you can do, you accepted the animal sight unseen, and you made the transaction. You dont want to get him introuble cause you consider him a friend but hes really not, if he tricked you into something like that. Hes a creep. If you want him to pay for what he did then take him to court but I will tell you, you wont win since you accepted the offer. You are stuck with the sick, lame, old mare, and that mare needs proper care. She didnt asked to be shipped around and mis-used. I would take care of that mare you just bought, get her on the road to recovery, find some love in your heart for her, and then sell her when shes ready. Or give her to a rescue so she doesnt have to go to auction or suffer more. Theres not much you can do at all. You cut your loss and learn for the next time some one trys to sucker you in on a bad deal.

Really he or she should no longer be your friend, but what to do with the mare is to not to look at her as a nuisance but as a pasture mate for the new horse just talk to a vet and ask them what to feed her, if you are absolutely certain you do not want the horse please make sure she goes to a very good home because there are people who buy horses for slaughter, so if selling be very care full and do your homework. As for the thoroughbred cross in foal look for her at his barn as well see if he even owned her.

p.s.-I feel sorry about your so called friend's horses they may all be doomed, just pay a visit and see what kind of conditions these horses are in that may explain a lot of things.

Don't do business with him again. Have you ever seen any of his horses? If this mare is an example of them, I would have called animal welfare on him.

Did you actually give him anything for the horse? A pregnant mare for $350 is really cheap. You might want to count your blessings you didn't get her, since she might have had a lot of problems.

You should let a vet look at the mare, she might be worth something. Can you handle her? I can't afford upkeep on another horse right now, otherwise I would take her off your hands.

particularly frankly i might concepts your very own enterprise and merely forget approximately her. If she's no longer likely your buddy then it is going to no longer be any pores and skin off your nostril. numerous individuals devoid of acceptable adventure finally end up getting horses. it is not good, commonly they purchase a horse on impulse or because of the fact of an emotional determination particularly then a properly made, properly researched, exact evaluated place. besides the actuality that i'm undecided what happens on your edge of the pond, she are able to flee with possessing the animal yet procuring their board is in basic terms a small component of the conflict. there is all those small charges that upload up and can pull the rug out from perfect decrease than you, emergency vet is one in all them, even ordinary vet care can value plenty, quite if she offered the pony and not utilising a pre-purchase examination and the pony hasn't been maintained exact (ft trimmed, tooth floated, vaccinations and coggins achieved). quite regardless of the indisputable fact that, on the top of the day it is not your place to assert something, it rather is her money, it rather is her determination, regrettably it the animal that suffers. If she talks to you with regard to the pony, merely agree together with her and with politeness replace the communique. If she comes decrease back in some months and says "what have I achieved?" attempt and save the "I advised you so's" to a minimum and maybe tell her that she's in over her head and recommend that she locate an experienced coach/instructor to help her fix the subject concerns. don't get absorbed into the drama. interior the recommend time, save the eyes on your very own objectives and handle this as a gaining expertise of adventure. do no longer make the comparable mistake by way of procuring for an costly animal previously you may handle to pay for to realize this. save saving up and take the time to locate your dream horse, the adventure could be long and problematical yet on the top of the day, you finally end up with a appropriate horse that's exact cared for, you would be happy with your self.

Don't be his fool. Bring the switch to his attention. Tell him you want your moneys or things back due to the switch as well. The skinny, old looking and lame horses is what we rescue people get. We do not pay for these horses. Instead, we bring them in, dump a bunch of money into them to fatten them up, get rid of their lameness, if it is possible. Then we put them up for adoption. The adoption we get is what the horse is capable of. Horses permanently lame are generally adopted out at $100 or given away, depending upon their age.

Go to a sales barn and see if you can find another horse that you like and sell the one you got or if you got a receipt check to see if it says that horse or the one you have
