I live to defend love, life, and liberty. I've sworn to do so and truly believe it is worth my time, blood, sweat, tears, and if need be, my life. I and millions of others do so every day so the people we love and care about can live without seeing the dangers we face. If you love your freedom thank the millions of veterans that served before me and if you love your children's freedom thank the millions that serve with me. We do it for a reason. You. Enjoy your freedom to love the the poems you write and the life you enjoy or our work is in vain. (Did I spell "vain" right. Or is it vane or vein?)

I am willing to withstand TORTURE if it meant that my daughters would be spared any injury in their lifetimes---I'm talking burning coals, bamboo under fingers, slicing off fingers, and whatever else you can think of that would be considered torture----there is NO LOVE GREATER than a mother's love....and I'm living proof of it....my life evolves around my daughters and though I do not agree with them all the time, I have always allowed them to make their own decisions and were around to help out if they weren't such good ones............I live and breathe for my daughters and if anything happened to them, I would have no reason at all to live.

The "who" question is the easier one: my near and dear family members (immediate and close family), my dearest friends (who I love ever bit as much as I do any family member), and my boyfriend.
The "what" question is much more difficult. Socrates lived his life for philosophy. He abandoned all material want and wandered around Athens engaging in philosophical discourse with anyone who would tolerate him (and he often tricked people into this). Unlike Socrates, I don't plan to live a drifter's life in my dedication to philosophy, but like him, it is what I have chosen to dedicate my life to (apart from my loved ones). The activity of carefully examining ourselves and the things around us, and of questioning things we've always held true without qualification, is too important and too often neglected. Hopefully as a philosophy teacher I can make a substantive difference in a lot of people's lives by shaking the ground under them, even if they don't like it.

I believe it a better goal for humanity in general , for one to live a life with humility for something than to have a short moment of giving up one's life for a person or ideal.

A few children of friends or family, that's about it. To die for that is. What am I willing to live for? Habit I guess.

The dark print question begs for one answer, the light print for its opposite. I plan to answer both at once. My reason for living is to enjoy as many experiences as I can for as long as I can. IMO going to a foreign country with the idea of killing some of the inhabitants for some political reason does not fall into the category of enjoying myself. To each his own.
At this moment,
I enjoy contributing my diversity to humanity as best I can using this medium. As long as I enjoy it and I feel that I can be of benefit, I will continue to offer it. All is well. Thank you for the questions.

There is nothing right or wrong in this world. It depends on your justification with self. Life in itself is a glory and it should be used for a purpose rather than giving it. Particularly in this materialistic world it hardly matters.

That's an interesting take.
It's a lot easier to say you would die for someone than to say you would live for them.
My husband and I joke around about wanting to be the first one to die (because we don't want to have to live without each other) - I would do anything for him, live or die.

I believe I would. I think the event would occur so quickly, I wouldn't have time to think about it. I have pulled strays out of traffic to keep them safe. I never thought about it until my mother mentioned that I could be bitten, or hit by a car. In the moment I had the animal's interests in mind.
