I am 23 weeks pregnant. (I just called my doctor and am waiting for her return call) I have been told cramping is normal, but yesterday i had cramping before bed, and cramping that woke me up and kept me from sleeping. No bleeding or discharge.

The past few weeks i have felt the baby move more and more everyday. Yesterday i felt him once before bed time and havn't felt him at all today. This hasn't been normal for him. Normaly he moved to my radio in the car, or when i play music. Is it just gas? Is he okay? Does this sound normal? Why isn't he moving, is it too early?

I tried the drinking cold water and laying on my side. Nothing. Tried to feel around on my belly, nothing. I am going to try that OJ thing...sounds interesting. My doc just called and is going to set me up with an apt to montor the baby and maybe do another ultrasound just to check on things. So we will see how it goes. Thanks for all your advice, makes me feel a little better. Because being pregnant your hormones are going crazy and i feel like I could just freak out any second. :)

It's good that you've called your doctor. It is not unusual for an active baby to decide to take a rest for a while. Especially if he/she has been overly active in the last several days. Both my sons would do that to me and worry me so much I'd go in just to have their heart rate checked.

I have given birth to two (2) preemie babies at different times, both sons were born at 32 weeks. During the second pregnancy, I was in pre-term labor almost from the very beginning and had to be on strict bed rest for close to 6 months. So please believe me, I know what I'm talking about when I say that the cramping you are describing sounds very familiar.

And it's the cramping that I would be checking on if I were you. If you don't hear from your doctor within the next few minutes, I would seriously consider going to ER and getting checked out. If there's nothing wrong ~ great! No one can fault you for being cautious.

But if you are trying to go into labor ~ the hospital would be the best place for you to be for them to get the contractions stopped and allow your baby to further develop before entry into this world.

Get yourself checked. Right away.

I'm 23 weeks and I had the same thing happen to me 2 nights ago!! I called my doctor first thing monday morning.
He said as long as you feel the baby move you're fine!
I had cramping sunday night for 3 hours non-stop. I have a routine with my little guy .. he bounces every couple hours. I went a day with very little movement .. and the kicks weren't as strong .. freaked me out!!!
The doctor said the cramping was probably him moving .. or stretching of my uterus and stomach muscles from him growing/moving ..it's perfectly normal.

my little guy is back bouncing on my bladder this morning!!
just give him a couple days .. he'll be back to normal! :)

good luck! God bless!

PS - when I got worried about the movement .. I DRANK ORANGE JUICE!! that will definitely get him going!!

You sound ok since you haven't had cramps with bleeding. And it's good that your doctor is setting up for you to be monitored. Sometimes babies just get all relaxed and nap in the womb :) I know somedays my baby is doing ninja moves and then other days she seems to sleep the whole time. I read that they sleep like 95% of the day...

Another idea along with orange juice...If I have a couple sips of Coca-cola she will start bouncing like a little bunny in there. (And yes, you're allowed to have some caffeine...my doctor said it's completely fine to have some in moderation)

Good luck! And don't feel bad for worrying! All of us pregnant moms-to-be completely understand!!

try a really cold glass of ice water. That will get the baby moving. If the baby doesn't move then, you should make a really urgent call to your doctor. Also, cramping is normal because your uterus is stretching and growing. Try to think of it like that. I used the glass of ice water before I went to bed so that baby wouldn't be so active when I was ready to sleep.

He is moving less and less because he has less room to move around in. You could be having braxton hicks contractions. (Your body is practicing for the real thing.) Drink a full glass of water as soon as you start cramping, because it could be a sign of dehydration. I had this with my second pregnancy. I was too active and not drinking enough water. The cramps would start, I
'd sit down and drink water, and they would go away.

I'm at 23 weeks, too. I think it's normal. If I get panicky about not feeling him kick for any length of time I just lay down on the bed and put my hands on my abdomen and within a few minutes I'll feel a kick. Sometimes when you're distracted during the day, the little one is kicking you just might not notice it all the time. :)

Cramps are what my contractions felt like. If you start cramping go take a warm bath. If that doesn't stop it start keeping up with the time they start till the time they stop and the time between them. You could just be having false labor. I wouldnt worry about any of it until someone tells you to.

I'm 30 weeks pregnant and the same thing happened to me. My doctor told me to drink and 8 oz. glass of water and to lie down on my left side and count how many times I felt movement and kicks and to call him back. And sure enough my baby started moving.....lie down for one hour. Your baby should move about 8 to 10 times.

It is okay to have cramps, but not cramps and bleeding at the same time. I would try not to worry. Wait for your doctor to call you back, she might want to see you just to check.
