I wouldnt do the trade, Your giveing away Bay who will only get better. Smoltz and Cordero are good this year but in a couple of years they are out.

Dont do the trade

Personally I would take the trade. Your improving your pitching staff hands down with Smoltz and Cordero (One of the top closers imo just plays for a bad team). Wickman might not even finish the season as Atl's closer and Sowers is replaceable down the line with free agency (try for Garza or Bonser)

Obvisouly Bay is better than Pierre but Bay does play for the Pirates and Pierre has his upside hitting #2 in a potent LA lineup. LA will be scoring runs for days out in the West and are picked by most to win that division.

Throw in next year's number one pick, which I assume is first pick for unrestricted free agents in a keeper, and I take the deal.

wickman will probably get a few more saves than cordero but cordero has more years in him. the same with smoltz because sowers is still blossoming but he looked good last year. you will lose a lot of power with bay but that is ok if you need SB and OBP, etc with pierre and they are both relatively young. in the long run it might be a good trade especially if you dont need bay and you do need stolen bases.
