Do you agree with the 5 stages of grief she proposed in her book On Death and Dying?

Most psychologists find her model useful. The thing is, not everyone spends a lot of time in each stage. For example, some people zip straight to acceptance. Others get stuck in denial for years. We all have a different emotional make-up and different attitudes and different ways of coping, so we go through the stages differently. But it's a model that has stood up for decades.

I met Kubler Ross before she died. I generally do believe in the grief stages, but they don't necessarily occur in the same order for everyone and unfortunately, some people get stuck in one of the stages and don't move on to acceptance. That is sad when that happens. The timing is different for everyone too. Some people spend more time in one stage then another. Loss and mourning is an individual experience.

I think is was a good theory. i don't however think that every person goes through all of the phases in a certain order.
