I wouldn't say that alcohol causes anti social behaviour, because alcohol effects people in different ways. Depending on the individuals traits, character e.t.c.
Some1 could drink & get drunk & they feel aroused, confident, sexy etc. While another person could drink the same amount & behave aggressive, violent, abusive.
Alcohol effects people in different ways as every1 is DIFFERENT!

No. Alcohol is a depressant, but as such its effects on the individual are totally dependent on that person's personality.

I spent many years of my life entertaining in clubs, lounges and at large social events, and I've see all the classic "drunks"

There are "happy drunks" that just get totally silly; moreso than they would be when sober.

There are "sleepy drunks" that just get quiet and don't bother anybody.

There are "angry drunks" that probably just have some psychological issues, prejudices, etc. that they think the alcohol gives them licence to vent.

Remember the controversy surrounding Mel Gibson's arrest and his racist remark. It wasn't the alcohol that made him say it. It was in his mind, in his psyche, and once intoxicated, his inhibitions were just reduced, and he did what a lot of people do when intoxicated; they say things they might not otherwise say when sober.

But alcohol per se does not make people anti-social.

It causes anti-social behavior when the circumsances surrounding the person, and what they are going through, would cause anti-socialism without alcohol. Alcohol only amplifies emotions and behavior that was already present, but easily hidden when sober.

ie. A man that has just lost his wife suddenly might be thrown into extreme greif and depression and withdraw himself from people that would bring up the painful memory, if alcohol was a factor he might go into extreme seclution to hide the fact that he was using it as a crutch.

In the case of the happy-go-lucky person that hasn't had anything extreme happen to them they may have a complete opposite behavior. Therefore, the alcohol it's self doesn't cause the anti-social behavior, but the emotions and feelings that are already present, but amplified by the alcohol.

Hope that helps!

Did a research about that matter last year....

It has actually been proved that alcohol and drugs do NOT cause violence.

But, people who tend to be violent before starting to use alcohol and drugs will tend to be even more violence under the influence of alcohol or narcotics.

Alcohol affects the inhibition. Our Inhibiting skills are located in our brain's frontal.

many of us, and race, culture etc., doesn't seem to make a difference are genetically more susceptible to alcoholism than others. And many of us are more likely to become violent. I can tell from experience that alcohol began affecting me and my life in very negative ways. It began as just a couple with some buds and evolved to the point of affecting my family, my job, my buds (violence) and my safety. I believe these to be anti-social behaviors.

Alcohol causes me to become VERY social. A little to social, so I guess it just depends on the person.

in a way it does and doesnt, depending on the person, how much tehy drink, what they drink, how often and such may or may not cause it in people. some people get depressed and drown their sorrows alone, while others drink and are very sociable, so it depends on the person and how they react which determines the anti-social behavior, just one point

Alchohol is an excuse that people use to justify the type of behavior that they would usually exhbit if the inhibitions were not in place.

No not at all, the only thing that alcohol changes is the way the brain works, it does not in itself create anything.
