If you feel that you need the extra money, go ahead and work the overtime.

Depends:
1) IF you are salary and not paid for OT, then only spend the extra time if you don't have a choice (or nothing better to do that afternoon/weekend)
2) If you are compensated for OT, then there is no harm in doing overtime
Just know there is a point of diminishing returns even on OT.

"Should I work the overtime", as opposed to what? If you have nothing better to do then you might as well make some extra money.

This is my answer, but it is cryptic. Meaning, "go
figure". Anyone who tells you that they have a
permanent job works for the U.S. government.
The only way to lose a job there is to be convicted
of murdering a fellow employee, or for putting
vodka in the punch at Christmas party.
Overtime, true, is mathematically augmenting to
your income.

It helps to pay the bills, and usually bosses appreciate it. Don't work so much that you become overally exhausted and stressed out though. It is not worth it.

If you need the $ to pay bills. If not, then relax. We aren't on this earth just to work. We need to play also.
