We waited a couple days to put our daughter in the swing, just because she was so small. Your baby is not going to get shaken baby syndrome from the swing. And won't get hurt as long as you make sure he's in the swing properly and buckled in. Try it out. He might not even like it yet.

oh its fine! Shaken baby syndrome is from a baby being shook VERY hard. They have straps on the swing so he won't fall out. Babies love the motion of the swing and soon it will be a big help to you when your trying to take a shower or do house work. They have had swings for a while with no harm done, they are very safe. But if you are very worried go ahead and hold off until YOU are ready. Good luck and congratulations on your baby!

I put my girl in the swing at 4 weeks. I asked the visiting nurse if this was okay and she (who was funny about other stuff) without hesitation said it was fine. I asked because I felt weird that she would just sleep for HOURS swingin' away!

Put it on a low setting if you're worried but you will not give him shaken baby syndrome! LOL My pediatrician also added that their brains are still growing so the brain still "floats" in the fluid so its not like "banging" against the skull. If they LOVE the swing they love it. But he may actually not like it.I've seen that. My girl wont just go in there if she's not half asleep. I need to calm her before I put her in. She rarely lays there quietly when awake. Hope this helps!

i put my children in a swing as soon as they came home. my oldest had colic really bad and the swing helped sooth him. just use one of those head things you put in carseats around him or add a couple of rolled up recieving blankets around his head so he does fall from side to side and if you have variable speeds use the slowest one. If not just wind it up and give a tiny push. Its more the swaying motion than anything they like. Its should be a smooth motion not a jerky one so shaken baby syndrome shouldnt be a worry.

hope this helps best of luck. And Congratz on the new baby.

Just remember you are his mother and your instincts outweigh any advice or instruction given by others.

You can put the baby in the swing right now. Make sure its the floor model fisher price swing. You will find that your baby will love the smooth glide. I really don't trust the floor model swing. Save your jitters for something else/ (lol)

First off congrats! Don't worry honey the swing will not hurt him . Just make sure his head is supported and the swing is not swinging too fast and he is buckled in. He will be just fine. My swing was a life saver when my son was a new born. It soothed him better than anything! He loved his swing! Good luck!

My son replaced into round 3 days old after I first positioned him in the Graco swing I were given for him, it suggested from newborn so i idea 'why no longer!' he loved it, yet he replaced into soo tiny in it! I had to positioned a blanket in the back of him and the accurate help out from the motorcar seat to make it a more beneficial useful fit for him. he's now 6 months and nevertheless loves swinging away :)

i think it might just be the first time jitters. its pretty safe to put him in it now because the swings just don't move that fast and they were made for a child his size.

if u are really really worried, just don't put him in it. u r the mom and if u don't feel comfortable doing something than don't do it. just return the swing and buy a rocking chair and rock him yourself.

Give yourself a much needed break, and put him in the swing. He'll be fine. He won't get shaken baby syndrome and he won't get hurt as long as you strap him in properly.
