Do you thik it makes you gain weight? Does it give you other side effects?

Hey! Ok here's the deal. I was on Depo Provera for 5 years!!! Good side effect was that I never got a period. Bad side effect. I gained 20 pounds, went from a size 3 to a 9. I started getting varicose veins and stretch marks on the inner & outer thighs, breast, hips and around my knee's. It took 2 years for my period to come down, and I am still irregular. And now I am having the hardest time getting pregnant. I have been off the shot for 3 years and my body still isnt normal, to how it was before I started taking the shot. I suggest that if you are thinking about that option of Birth Control, you talk about it with your OB/GYN. Of course side effects are always different with other people who have had the shot. Look at other options as well. The patch and pills are good alternitive's also.

It made me gain weight like crazy. I didn't change any other part of my life (exercise, diet) but I put on 5 lbs every 3 months. I also had skin problems while on it. My periods were very irregular. Sometimes I would miss a month (which really freaked me out). I had a friend that had the opposite problem and bled for 3 months straight. It is different for every woman. I am now on Mirena, and I love it so much more. The pills were even better than Depo for me.

I used Depo for a few years. The doctor told me that the shot doesn't cause weight gain. He said that something in it makes you hungry then if you eat all the time you will gain weight. I said yes whatever. I gained weight from the damn shot like 40 lbs over 6 months. I wasn't too happy... but I liked not having the periods.
But my sister gained the weight too and bled all the time so she had to stop taking the shot. It works differently for each woman because we are all different.

The weight part you can control. The shot increases your appetite, so whether or not you gain weight is almost completely in your control. There are several side effects such as increased body or facial hair, depression, delayed period, bone thinning, etc etc. Talk to your doctor or google Depo. :]

It made my best friend gain 30 pounds (and she was very fit before that), she lost a lot of hair, and was super evil and depressed.
I would not recommend it.
